About Us
Scott Lake Elementary was built In 1959 in the North Regional Area, located on 10.8 acres at 1160 N.W. 175th Street in Miami. Scott Lake Elementary has grown throughout the years by adding four new buildings from the original floor plan; a two pack Kindergarten, an eight pack Special Education Program (SPED), a media center, and the last building was built in 2006 adding 10 classrooms.
The demographics of the immediate surrounding neighborhood have a mobility index of 23% which reflects on our excellent attendance rate of 96.91% In comparison to the District's average of 95.38%. Recruitment and marketing techniques have been revisited and fine-tuned to aggressively seek and enroll top notch students in the Montessori magnet program. The school has an enrollment of approximately 500 students in Prekindergarten through fifth grade. Scott Lake Elementary is a Title I funded school because at least 93% of all students qualified for either free or reduced lunch. Scott Lake Elementary School serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade five. The student body participates in academic core subject areas (reading, mathematics, writing, social studies, and science) daily.
We also offer other educational and / or extracurricular programs such as GIFTED, Safety Patrols, Orchestra, Chorus, Art Club, CHESS, Science Club, Technology Club, Chapter Book Club and the Pre-K Violin/Strings Program along with mentoring groups Girls Growing Into Greatness and 5000 Role Models of Excellence. The 5000 Role Models of Excellence project was initiated by the Miami-Dade County School Board in March 1993, due to the realization that there is an ongoing crisis in the lives of many young males. The project's mission is to intervene in the lives of at-risk boys, in order to provide them with alternatives that will lead them away from a life of crime and violence.
Scott Lake Elementary School is a mandatory uniform school. Our school uniform colors are: Yellow or Green Tops; Khaki or Dark Green bottoms. On Fridays our students and staff show school pride by wearing our official School Spirit Shirt.
